By using nbit.chat, you agree to these terms. They're straightforward - we keep things simple because the service is simple.

1. What nbit.chat is

nbit.chat is a free, browser-based communication platform that provides end-to-end encrypted text messaging and voice calls. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

2. No account required

nbit.chat does not require registration, accounts, or any personal information. You access the service by creating or joining a chat room via a shared link and encryption key.

3. Your responsibilities

When using nbit.chat, you agree to:

• Use the service lawfully - Do not use nbit.chat for any illegal activity, harassment, threats, distribution of illegal content, or any purpose that violates applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
• Manage your own keys - You are solely responsible for safeguarding your encryption keys. We cannot recover lost keys or decrypt your data. If you lose your private key, your chat history is unrecoverable.
• Share links and keys responsibly - Anyone with your room link and private key can access and decrypt messages in that room. Share these only with people you trust.
• Not abuse the service - Do not attempt to overload, disrupt, or interfere with the servers or other users' connections. Do not use automated tools to spam or flood rooms.
• Respect other users - Room administrators may ban users who are disruptive. Bans are enforced at the room level and are at the discretion of the room creator.

4. Encryption and privacy

nbit.chat provides end-to-end encryption for text messages and file transfers. Voice and video calls use WebRTC with browser-level DTLS-SRTP encryption. Our Privacy Policy details exactly what data is and isn't processed by our servers.

We cannot moderate encrypted content. Because we cannot read your messages, we cannot monitor, filter, or take responsibility for content shared within encrypted rooms. Users are solely responsible for the content they send.

5. Room administration

The user who creates a room is its administrator. Administrators can ban other users from their room. nbit.chat does not intervene in room moderation decisions. If you are banned from a room, that is a decision made by the room's administrator, not by nbit.chat.

6. Service availability

nbit.chat is provided free of charge with no guaranteed uptime or service level agreement. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without notice. We are not liable for any data loss, missed messages, or service interruptions.

7. No data recovery

By design, nbit.chat cannot recover your messages, encryption keys, or any other data. There is no "forgot password" or "account recovery" mechanism. This is a fundamental design choice, not an oversight. You accept full responsibility for backing up any information you wish to keep.

8. Intellectual property

The nbit.chat name, logo, and website design are the property of nbit.chat. You retain full ownership of any content you create and share through the service.

9. Third-party services

nbit.chat uses Cloudflare for WebRTC relay services and Tenor for GIF search functionality. Your use of these features is subject to those providers' respective terms and privacy policies.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, nbit.chat and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, use, or profits, arising from your use of the service, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

11. Termination

Since there are no accounts, there is nothing to "terminate" in the traditional sense. However, we reserve the right to block access to the service for any user or IP address that violates these terms or engages in abuse.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted on this page. Continued use of nbit.chat after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these terms or the use of nbit.chat shall be resolved in accordance with those laws.
